You’ll never run out again

It cannot be easy to find the right mobile phone for you. This is something we always discuss. Is it Android or Apple? Which type of camera is best? What amount of storage is appropriate?

However, we don’t often discuss determining the right amount of data per month.

We have a lot of amazing deals on top-selling mobiles. There are many data allowances, so that it can be overwhelming.

To help you decide on a data allowance, we decided to look at which mobile apps drain the battery the most.

By assessing which apps you use most, you can better understand how much data you need.

Unavoidable social media apps

The majority of us use social media apps daily, whether it’s Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

We found many surprising differences in the data used by social media platforms.

  • Twitter seems to have become the new Facebook. Rather than updating status, many people prefer tweeting.

Both platforms have similar layouts and content types. A feed mixes images, videos, and text-only posts that you can scroll through.

  • Twitter uses 160MB more data per hour than Facebook, despite this. On average, users spend 145 minutes per day on Twitter.

It’s super easy to find out how much data your favorite apps use.

  • We did the math, so you don’t have to. This would mean that the average Twitter user would drain 870MB, while Facebookers would use 242MB.

TikTok is the latest trend. Although it started as a platform for younger generations, more people downloaded it over time.

We all scroll aimlessly through videos of dogs and random recipes, even though we know we won’t try them.

  • No surprise, TikTok drains more than your productivity. It drains an astonishing 840MB per hour.
  • Snapchat is much more efficient than other photo apps. Snapchat can take photos of you, your favorite meal, and your dog while using only 160MB per hour.
  • We reach Instagram for selfies, pet photos, and everything in-between.

Our research shows that people spend approximately 145 minutes per day on Instagram. This is equivalent to 1.74GB of data.

We recommend that you opt for a larger data allowance, such as 100GB or unlimited if you use all these apps every day.

Keeping entertained

Many people prefer to watch Netflix and Amazon Prime on their TVs. We want the largest screen possible.

Sometimes, however, watching on our mobile devices is the only way to go. We have to be on our daily commute, or someone is hogging the TV remote.

How much data does this popular entertainment app use? That’s what you might be asking. YouTube, Netflix, and Amazon Prime all consume 3GB per hour.

You’re sure to love a good BBC drama if you are a sucker. BBC iPlayer consumes only 225MB of data, according to our research.

If you’re looking for commute entertainment that isn’t Queen, Fleetwood Mac, or Justin Bieber, then.

Spotify uses very little data per hour, only 40MB. This allows you to listen to your favorite songs without worrying about data running out.

The perfect data allowance for your needs

These apps are the most used and popular. Knowing how much data they use each hour can help you decide how much information is needed.
