Android 12 could not have come at a better moment with so many amazing Android devices on the market.
This is the most recent version of the software. It brings many improvements and new features to your Android experience.
Android 12 is easier to use, safer and more personal than ever. Android 12 features a new user interface and privacy enhancements that place you first. It also opens up a new world of gaming.
We have compiled a list of 10 Android 12 features that we believe are the best.
A complete overhaul with you in mind
Maybe you have had a bad experience with an interior designer or decorator who, despite your explicit instructions, went with your vision.
Android 12 will not give you this experience, we promise. We have redesigned the user interface (or UI) with you in mind.
You will notice our perception of the word “you”. That was intentional. Material You is a way to combine different elements into a design language that can be used across all operating systems.
The base coat of paint used in a redesign is colour extraction. Android 12 will take colours from your wallpaper and create a personal theme for you.
You can also override the default colour scheme and make your own, which gives you the best of both.
Focus on widgets
Widgets are a popular feature on iPhones and Android 12. Android 12 introduces widgets to Android devices.
Android widgets were previously placed to the side to make it easier to view and scroll.
They’re back, and they’re better than ever. Widgets are now more attractive and functional than ever. With the new design, you can personalize them easily.
Settings are made quicker
Android 12 has brought Android Quick Settings up to date. People, the small toggles are over. The rectangle buttons will be here for good.
The new buttons are identical and can be tapped to activate or disable. You can quickly create settings for Google Pay, alerts, and other bits and pieces for your smart home appliances.
You can also create new settings for microphone access and camera access. This will allow you to take better photos and record faster. You will find toggles that are easier to read and provide more information.
Scroll along with it
Another amazing feature of Android 12 is scrolling screenshots. This is a great feature for when you need to capture an entire page or email.
It’s easy too! Take a normal screenshot and then click the Capture More button. This will allow you to take a scrolling screenshot which you can then crop at your convenience.
One-handed mode
The one-handed mode is the best solution for those who have always had it all. You can cook dinner, hold hands with your child or enjoy a glass of wine.
One-handed mode allows you to send a quick message or make a phone call with one hand.
The screen shrinks to half its size. This makes it easy to reach everything with one hand. The top half of your screen will be blank for those with taller mobiles.
Sharing is caring, especially Wi-Fi
Hosting is frustrating when everyone shouts at you for your Wi-Fi password.
Your partner has lost the little card with the password one despite their assurances.
To get to the router and get your password, you will need to navigate the maze of wires behind your TV. Or do you? Android 12 is different.
Nearby Share allows you to share your Wi-Fi details and other information with others in your area – much faster than using the QR code. (Which is also still available!)
Easy search
Android 12 also offers AppSearch, a handy feature to search for other apps. It’s a very popular feature that we’ve seen on many other Android devices.
You can search within your apps for various bits and pieces. It’s great to find text messages from months ago or locate notes you have written recently.
This feature works offline, so you can search from wherever you are. It is also super-fast.
What is your face saying?
Your mobile phone’s auto-rotation can be either the best or worst thing. It rotates your screen based upon the position of your phone unless it is locked.
Android 12 introduces an upgrade to autorotate, which means that it will now only focus on your face. This is great for when you are lying on your back. Your phone will now detect your face and keep it the same.
Audio selection made fast
The quick settings menu is back in our minds. You can easily alter your audio source by using the media player hidden under your quick settings.
Click the button to display a complete list of connected devices. This is great for when your speaker goes out or needs to make a change before everyone else notices quickly.
Easy content insertion
The next update removes the need to transfer data between apps. Instead of saving an image or video, you can copy and paste the media into another app.
This is most helpful when you send someone a picture from a website or clothing app on your phone.
This will make it easier to find your camera roll and save you space.
